Apply For Airport Prescreening

What is TSA Precheck?

Low-risk travelers on domestic and international flights can fast-track security at participating US airports. When you join the program you no longer need to stand in line for security checks and you don’t need to remove items of clothing or show laptops and liquid bags. Random security checks may still occur. The program is open to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Membership is valid for 5 years, after which time you must reapply.

We offer paid assistance with services offered by the government. You can apply directly with the government here for a fee of $85. IVT Services charges a processing fee of $154.99 if you use our checking and processing service.

Existing members of Global EntryNEXUS, and SENTRI don’t need to apply for this program. It is included in your Trusted Travel membership.

Children aged 12 and under who are accompanied by their parents/guardians do not need to join the program unless they are traveling alone. The accompanying parent/guardian must be a TSA Precheck member.

Members of the military, including military students are automatically enrolled at no cost. You must use your DOD ID number (the 10-digit number on the back of your Common Access Card) when you book your travel in place of the Known Traveler Number (KTN). Civilians working in the military must opt in to the program using milConnect.

How To Apply For TSA Precheck

Follow the instructions below to apply for membership:

  • Step 1: Fill out the application by clicking on the “Start Your Application” button above.
  • Step 2: Pay the IVT service fee by following the payment link at the end of the form.
  • Step 3: On receipt of your application form and payment, your data and documents will be carefully reviewed and submitted to the government for background and law enforcement checks.
  • Step 4: IVT contacts you with your compulsory interview date at the enrollment center of your choice. You attend the interview and if successful, you will receive your Known Traveler Number (KTN) by mail.

How to Use Your Known Traveler Number

Once you receive your KTN (Known Traveler Number) you must enter it into the ‘Known Traveler Number’ field when making airline reservations. If you are a member of a Trusted Travel program like NEXUS, you must enter your PASSID into the KTN field. You must also book your flight using the exact name that you used when you registered for prescreening or your Trusted Traveler program.

At the airport, check-in for your flight and go straight to the prescreen security lane. (Not all airports have prescreening; in the event that you are using an airport without this you must proceed through the regular security lanes.

Who Is Eligible?

You can apply for this program if you are a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder and have a clean criminal and immigration record (minor traffic offenses do not count). Some frequent fliers are also eligible and they will be notified through participating airlines. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces and retired members are automatically eligible and should use their Department of Defense (DoD) identification number when making flight reservations. Civilians working in the military must opt in to the program using milConnect.

How To Fill Out Your Trusted Traveler Form

Open the form. Choose if you're a first-timer or if you're renewing.

In the first section fill out your name and birth info. You must write your name as it appears on your passport.

The next section deals with your nationality and your right to live in the USA. You need your passport and any visas for this section.

Next, give your driver details. Add in the info about your car, if you want to cross the Mexican border.

Give the address you live at now and your mailing address. Then your addresses for the last 5 years.

Then, tell us where you worked for the last 5 years. If you haven’t worked, it’s not a problem, just check the box that describes what you were doing.

List any countries you visited in the last 5 years.

Next, there are 4 govt security questions.

And finally, there’s space to fill out your bank card info to pay the govt fee. We will pay the fee on your behalf using this info.

THE TRUSTED TRAVEL INTERVIEW

There’s no getting away from the compulsory interview!
It doesn’t matter who you are or how old you are, everyone has to attend an interview.

Once the government have finished their background checks they will decide if you are a low-threat traveler or not. If you’ve listed any convictions or criminal charges on your application, you’re unlikely to get approved – even if the charges have been expunged. Similarly, if you’ve ever committed any immigration or custom’s offences, you’re unlikely to be accepted onto the program.

Interviews last 10 minutes for TSA Pre. Other programs take 30 minutes. They take place at  at one of the official enrollment centers located all over the USA as well as in Canada and at other international destinations.
